Showcase – Auckland City Mission double stack

With construction on the Auckland City Mission’s new building in Hobson St well under way, Royal Wolf’s hoardings and site offices play a key part in the smooth running of the project.

Problem

With construction of Auckland City Mission’s new building on Hobson St, a safe pedestrian solution was needed for the footpath along the busy feeder road to the Southern Motorway. On a tight inner-city site, construction site offices were also essential for the project due to be completed in 2020.

Solution

A double-stack, made up of four container hoardings which create a pedestrian walk way in front of the construction site and two site offices on top of the hoardings, was used to create a space saving solution on the busy site.

It was a challenging installation, as Hobson was not able to be used for unloading. Instead, a narrow lane behind the site was used for access meaning the containers were craned more than 80m across the site to the footpath on Hobson St.

Result

The Royal Wolf set up plays a key part in the smooth running of the Auckland City Mission project which will ultimately see the introduction of 80 new housing units for the city’s most vulnerable residents, health services, and community facilities.
