Construction workers should not have to spend time on challenges not related to the core business of building. That is why they prefer to call in the experts for worksite building and construction solutions.

Shipping container specialist Royal Wolf has expanded its range of building and construction solutions in New Zealand to include a containerised hoarding. The containerised hoarding, in use in Australia the past four years, provides a 10kPa-rated overhead protection for pedestrians on construction sites.

Royal Wolf is a respected portable building provider for a number of Australian and New Zealand construction companies. Paul Creighton, Royal Wolf New Zealand General Manager, says the company’s reputation in the portable building market is the result of comprehensive knowledge of its product and the ability to turn this knowledge into flexible solutions. In addition, Royal Wolf’s success in the portable building niche the past four years builds on a 17-year track record in the shipping container market, during which it grew to become the largest container provider in Australasia.

Creighton explains new containers are built in-house, and the team also has access to a robust infeed of used containers. Building on this security of supply, four years ago the company started considering ways to diversify and service other market segments. The result was a custom design building and construction worksite solutions product range.

The building and construction range offers newly built containers in a variety of sizes that can be set up to create office space and amenities such as ablution facilities and staff rooms. The units are fitted with the required services such as plumbing, electricity, and communications. The newest addition to the range involves refurbished containers being modified to provide custom designed hoarding space. All units can be easily moved and situated on a variety of ground surfaces or platforms.

Creighton says the containerised hoarding in particular showcases Royal Wolf’s dedication to product development and innovation: Like Royal Wolf’s other building and construction solutions, the containerised hoarding is portable, modular, and can be installed in a fraction of the time it takes to construct similar solutions onsite.

In addition, its manufacturing methodology and modularity makes it the only product in its class that offers a storage option, too. Constructed as a three sided container with specially strengthened roof and side pillars and incorporating Royal Wolf’s patented interlocking device, its top can be used to support up to two levels of portable buildings and storage containers.

The portable building units can be double or triple stacked by means of the patented locking device and the floors can be connected with an outside staircase, ensuring the optimal use in internal space. Installation is fast - Creighton has seen instances where up to 30 units were set up in one day.

While customers can choose from a range of set designs, they can also specify exactly what they want: “Royal Wolf has an in-house team of engineers and draftsmen who are dedicated to creating practical, cost effective designs while ensuring their knowledge of the shipping container and its strengths are applied to the customer’s advantage,” Creighton says.

The containerised hoarding is patented in New Zealand and Australia and complies with both countries’ health and safety legislation.
